How to choose a DOT helmet

Measure the widest part of your skull, size to the snug end, and wear it for ten minutes before you decide. Check DOT FMVSS 218 on the shell, replace after any impact, and never buy a lid second-hand.

Getting the fit right first time

Armour should sit on the joint when you are in your riding position, not standing in the hallway. Crouch, reach for the bars, and check the sleeve still covers your wrist. Anything that shifts, sizes down.
